If you’re one to constantly create PowerPoint presentations at your company, you know how boring they can start to get. Especially if you aren’t creative, it can feel like you’re creating the same presentation over and over and over again. It doesn’t have to be that way!

There are so many underused features of PowerPoint that will make your presentation much more professional and engaging. Today, I’ll share a few of my favorites that you can try in your next presentation.

1. Embed Videos

Videos are super engaging to your audience so I usually recommend including one in your presentation. The best way to add a video is to embed it. You can either upload a video from your device, or embed it directly from YouTube. The two videos below show you exactly how to do each!

BONUS: You can even use videos as a background on your slide!

2. Match brand colors with the Eyedropper Tool

The eyedropper tool allows you to select a color based on images or colors you’ve already used in your presentation. Simply select the carrot next to text colors, and click Eyedropper. Then, click anywhere on the slide deck to steal that color. Once you “eyedrop” all the colors you want to use, they will show up under text color > “recent colors” for easy access.

BONUS: For even easier access to your brand colors, save the palette directly to PowerPoint. That way, you’ll never have to guess again if you’re using the correct colors in your slides.

3. Use the Grid System to Align Everything on the Slide

Do you spend too much time trying to align everything on the slide? The Grid System is the answer to your prayers. The PowerPoint grid system creates lines across the slide to show where to put blocks to make them aligned. It will even let you know when a block is lined up with another one. It completely removes the guesswork of figuring out alignment.

4. Use a PowerPoint Designer to Create Something Completely Unique

Let’s face it. Some people simply aren’t the creative type or don’t want to put in the effort to create slide decks. And that’s okay! Let someone who loves it design a beautiful presentation template you can use over and over. It’s the best way to ensure your presentation is on-brand, professional, and engaging.
